Attendance

The staff and governors of North Farnborough Infant School share a strong commitment to ensuring that children attend school regularly so they can make the most of the educational opportunities offered to them. Consistent attendance supports children in developing into emotionally resilient, confident and capable individuals who can reach their full potential and contribute positively to their community.
North Farnborough Infant School values every child. We work closely with families to identify any barriers to achieving and sustaining excellent attendance, and we provide timely, appropriate support to help overcome these challenges. The Headteacher and Attendance Officer review attendance on a weekly basis, using the data to spot emerging patterns of concern and to recognise and celebrate positive attendance.
Attendance concerns will be raised with parents (when reasons are not known by the school, e.g. recovery from an operation). This information may also be shared with the Local Authority. Where we have concerns, or there is a lack of engagement from families to improve attendance, we will follow the school’s staged approach to improving attendance.
North Farnborough’s staged approach places children at the heart of every decision and focusses on providing support while building strong, positive relationships with families. We use the Early Help process to offer assistance before concerns escalate and to work collaboratively with families so that children can fully access their right to education.
Parents will receive their child’s attendance information each term through Parents’ Consultations and the annual school report. They can also view live attendance data at any time via the Arbor app. Every half-term, we will share overall attendance figures—and data for specific groups with the Governing Body. These figures will be closely monitored to ensure appropriate support is in place.
